Winter guard is the sport of indoor color guard. Modern color guard is a combination of the use of flags, sabers, mock rifles, and other equipment, as well as dance and other interpretive movement. We use a chosen soundtrack, choreography, props, and costumes to tell a story.
Our color guard staff provide all necessary training, and no experience is necessary to join our winter guard! Students do not need to be enrolled in a fine arts class in order to participate. Informational meetings, clinics, and auditions will take place in November.
We typically rehearse 1-2 times per week, and usually during evenings or on weekends. All competitions will take place on weekends. Our season runs from November through April.
We compete in the Midwest Color Guard Circuit, which is our local competitive circuit. Some winter guards also compete on the national level through Winter Guard International (WGI).
